Overcut is proprietary, closed-source software. It is NOT open source and is NOT distributed under the MIT License or any other open-source license. This software is currently in ALPHA. By installing, running, or using the Overcut bridge or the Overcut dashboard (“the Software”), you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
“Overcut”, “we”, “us” - the Overcut project and its owner. “Software” - the Overcut bridge (the local application that reads simulator telemetry and serves it over your local network) and the Overcut dashboard (the web/PWA frontend), with all associated binaries, assets, and documentation distributed by Overcut. “You”, “user” - the individual or entity that installs or uses the Software.
Subject to your compliance with these terms, Overcut grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and run the Software on devices you own or control, for your own personal sim-racing use - including viewing the dashboard on additional devices on your local network.
You may NOT, in whole or in part: (a) redistribute, sell, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, or otherwise transfer the Software; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, structure, or algorithms of the Software, except as expressly permitted by applicable law; (c) modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works; (d) remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices or branding; (e) use the Software to build or train a competing product or service. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Overcut.
The Software is licensed, not sold. Overcut and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights.
Overcut is local-first. The bridge runs on your own machine and serves your own telemetry over your own local network; raw telemetry frames are not uploaded and do not leave your machine as part of normal local operation. Use of the Software requires a free account from first run; creating and activating an account requires being online once, after which the Software continues to operate locally, including offline. Any cloud synchronization is metadata-only and opt-in. We do not log or store your raw telemetry on our servers.
The Software incorporates third-party open-source components, each governed by its own license. Those licenses continue to apply to their respective components and are not superseded by this EULA.
The public marketing site uses privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics. We record anonymous, aggregate interaction counts (such as how far visitors scroll and which buttons they click) to improve the page. No cookies are set, no data is stored on your device, and no personal data - including your IP address - is retained. Because nothing is stored on your device and no personal data is processed, no cookie consent banner is required. This applies to the marketing pages only and never to telemetry or your account data.
Overcut may collect opt-in crash reports to improve stability. Crash reports contain anonymized technical information: exception type, stack frame filenames, and bridge version. No telemetry data, lap times, or personal information is included in crash reports. You may opt out at any time in Settings.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. OVERCUT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT TELEMETRY, TIMING, OR ANALYSIS DATA WILL BE ACCURATE. THIS IS ALPHA SOFTWARE; YOU USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL OVERCUT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
This license is effective until terminated. It terminates automatically if you breach any of its terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the Software and delete all copies in your possession. Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, and 13 survive termination.
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Overcut regarding the Software and supersede any prior understandings. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Overcut may update these terms for future versions of the Software. Contact: Discord community or overcut.gg.
This addendum governs the optional “Benchmark Contribution” feature. It supplements Section 5 (Your Data, Privacy & Local-First Operation). If there is a conflict, this addendum governs for benchmark contribution data.
When you opt in to benchmark contribution, the Software uploads the following derived metadata from your sessions: cohort dimensions (game, track, car, session type, assist segment, wet/dry, temperature band) and lap and sector times in milliseconds.
No raw telemetry is uploaded as part of benchmark contribution. Raw frames, steering, throttle, brake, GPS, and all other per-frame signals remain on your local machine and are never transmitted to Overcut servers in connection with this feature (consistent with ADR-535, Security Rule 6, and Section 5 of these Terms).
Benchmark contribution is disabled by default. It is activated only if you explicitly enable the toggle on your Account page. Enabling benchmark contribution is separate from creating an account, using the Software, or enabling cloud session backup. Sessions synced before you enable contribution are not automatically contributed - you must re-sync them after enabling the toggle.
You may withdraw consent and request erasure of your contributed data at any time by: (a) using the Right to Be Forgotten endpoint (DELETE /v1/users/me/benchmark-contributions) - this permanently deletes all rows you have contributed; or (b) deleting your Overcut account, which cascades and removes all benchmark contribution rows automatically. Disabling the toggle only stops future contributions; it does not delete rows already in the pool.
Aggregated cohort statistics are surfaced to other users only in anonymized form. The output enforces k-anonymity (k ≥ 8 distinct contributing users, caller excluded). Your raw contributed data is never exposed to other users. The “field best” single-point minimum is withheld unless the cohort contains at least 30 distinct users. Individual identity is never revealed through benchmark output.
TERMS_VERSION NOTICE - This addendum is additive. Existing users are not required to re-accept the full Terms to continue using the Software. The addendum governs users who choose to opt in to benchmark contribution; the consent gate is the opt-in toggle, not app use.
